Aminah Jasmine Rahman is an award-winning poet and spoken word artist born and raised in Cambridge. Aminah addresses themes of identity, mental health, and popular culture in her writing. 

Aminah was shortlisted to perform at the Roundhouse Poetry Slam London Heat in May 2024, a competition that brings together emerging spoken word artists across the United Kingdom to compete for a cash prize and the title of Slam Champion. 

In 2022, she also performed at the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) first-ever Iftar at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Aminah also performed at the BBC Make a Difference Awards ceremony in 2023. She was commissioned by BBC Asian Network to write and perform a poem celebrating 50 years of Bangladeshi independence. Aminah represented Cambridgeshire with her poem ‘Please’ at the BBC Upload Festival 2020, a festival that showcases talent from across England and the Channel Islands. Aminah has also contributed to BBC Radio, including BBC Radio 4. In 2021 and 2022, she was commissioned by International Women’s Day to write and perform poetry.

She is one of five judges for the Togetherness Poetry Challenge 2024, by Civil Society Consulting and Edinburgh Interfaith Association, a national competition encouraging people to write a poem under the theme of Togetherness. The judges will be hosting different workshops across the year, and a celebratory event in November 2024.

Aminah was the winner of the Young Muslim Writers Awards: Key Stage 2 Poetry category in 2015. In 2017, Aminah was the joint winner of the Cambridge News and Media Education Awards: ‘Pupil of the Year’ Award.
